Henri and the House Eagle

I’ve decided to chat to Freddie during breakfast. She seems to be at her happiest when she’s munching on lettuce and I definitely need a strong pot of tea to deal with her ramblings 

The Girl – Shall we start from the beginning? 

Freddie – no, I think we need to mention the other two that are in my life at the moment. 

You already know about myself and The Girl. I also live with another guinea pig called Henrietta Von Nusken, Henri for short. Apparently us guinea pigs need a companion. I prefer to hang out with humans and Henri definitely prefers guinea pigs. She is a stunningly beautiful guinea pig but it’s all looks and no brains. She’s always trying to snuggle and seems to be scared of everything, until there is hunger in her tum tum. That’s when she becomes useful! I let her wheek loudly at the humans. I used to be able to do that but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve lost my wheeker. I’m all raspy these days and Henri is very loud and it’s Just ever so perfect.  

Then there is the House Eagle 

The Girl – You can’t call him the House Eagle. He’s got a name! 

Freddie – *gives side eye* I’m only protecting you two from my fans. 

Now where was I. Yes, the House Eagle. He’s only been around for a short time but I’ve taken to trying to tame him and study the human behaviour. I’ve been studying The Girl all these years but I need a male subject. I think The Girl found him looking lost one day. Or was he in the supermarket buying salad for his future guinea pig friends? I don’t really pay attention to what she’s waffling about unless it’s about how cute and fuzzy I am or about salad. Anyway, he’s my favourite person at the moment. He tells me bedtime stories and gives more veggie treats than The Girl. When I first met The House Eagle, he wore the softest jumper. It was so cosy, that I had a little nap. I don’t normally let my guard down to strangers but it was worth it. 

Speaking of napping, I need to check on Henri. I don’t want her sleeping in my favourite spot. I’ll get The Girl to sort out when we can have another chat.
